AC Gives Back: The Okra Project

Increased Visibility Through Social Strategy

The Okra Project is a collective that seeks to address the global crisis faced by Black Trans people by bringing home-cooked, healthy meals and resources directly to them. Their work blends activism, community care, and visibility—driven by the lived experiences of the people they serve.

The Okra Project team applied to the ACGivesBack training program with the goal of developing better strategies to increase their social media reach—particularly to expand community access and donor engagement. Their specific challenges included follower fluctuation, limited platform engagement (mainly Instagram), and a desire to humanize their digital presence while managing limited time and resources.
